伝説的ヴァイオリニスト、メニューインとグラッペリの共演録音、全86曲
クラシック以外のさまざまなアーティストと交流のあったメニューインは、ジャンルを超えた音楽を数多くつくり上げ、レコーディングもおこなっていました。中でも有名だったのが、ジャズ・ヴァイオリンの大御所ステファン・グラッペリとの共演です。
彼らが1973年から1983年にかけてEMIで制作した6枚のアルバムは、ガーシュウィンやミュージカルの有名ナンバーを集めた選曲と、クラシックと＆ジャズのダブル・ヴァイオリンにジャズ基調のムーディな伴奏が絡むこともあって、BGMにも最適な美しく洒落た仕上がりとなっており、かつては「メルティング・サウンド」と呼ばれて人気を博していました。この4枚組セットには、それら6枚のアルバムの収録曲すべてが収められています。
